The Montano Torre 35 Climbing Backpack is designed for climbing, mountaineering, ski touring, and glacier expeditions. It’s crafted to be waterproof, functional, and durable. Over the years, climbers have provided feedback on its prototypes, resulting in a backpack designed by climbers, for climbers.
This backpack is suitable for both single-day and multi-day climbs, whether in summer or winter. It’s made from highly waterproof Cordura RipStop material. RipStop is a lightweight and robust fabric with a characteristic checkered texture. The pattern is created by weaving thicker threads at regular intervals in a plain weave, reinforcing the fabric’s structure.
The Cordura material used has a special fluorocarbon finish, providing water resistance, oil resistance, and dirt resistance. Additionally, a laminated coating creates a double dispersion layer, enhancing material durability.
The backpack features a full-length zipper for convenient access to the interior. The YKK zipper is splash-proof, and its unique structure prevents accidental openings. You can attach ice axes using loops and Velcro straps. Two adjustable side straps with YKK buckles allow external attachment of ropes, skis, or additional gear. It includes an external pocket (also secured with a splash-proof YKK zipper) for small items and two mesh side pockets for extra storage. To reduce weight, a removable foam insert at the back can serve as a sitting pad on snow. Ventilation systems on the back have been minimized to further reduce weight.
The backpack’s bottom is shaped at an angle of approximately 30 degrees relative to its rear. This design allows the weight to distribute close to the back, resulting in better balance during climbing.
Other features include an adjustable chest strap for stability, anatomically profiled shoulder straps for comfort during approaches, and a minimized hip belt for even weight distribution. The upper part of the shoulder straps has loops for resting thumbs, providing relief during ascents and serving as gear loops while on the wall.
We have added the option of quickly attaching a hip belt to the Torre 35 backpack.
